I Remember Real Hip Hop T-Shirt
It just so happened that when I was writing this, Wu-Tang’s CREAM was playing and it made me think back to their debut album, "Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)" released back in 1993. From the early 80’s to the mid 90’s, this was the highlight of the hip hop era with so many distinctive styles where you could tell Rakim from Big Daddy Kane or Snoop Dogg from Too Short.
Back in this era everybody wasn’t trying to be gangsta rappers either. Perfect example, The Fugees, “The Score” that came out in 1996 became one of the biggest selling hip hop albums of all time that sold worldwide sales of 18 million. Unfortunately for the hip hop culture today, corporate America and lame radio stations have definitely put a damper on creativity.
